Kate Moss, Erin Wasson, Rumi Neely, Farah Fawcett, Chloe Sevigny, Emmanuelle Alt, Alexa Chung – the list goes on. I’m inspired by ‘style icons’ on a daily basis, which is great, as a fashion blogger, but particularly hard on the purse strings.
I couldn’t possibly choose one individual, for the joy of fashion is to be so inspired by snippets of outfits you see on the street, in the media or in your imagination on a daily basis. It’s the aspirations of playing dress up, for instilling instant confidence to an everyday outfit.
For me the ultimate style icon would have the power dressing qualities of Emanuelle, the care-free ‘grunge’ attitude of Erin, the huge hair of Farah, the coolness of Chloe, the notoriety of Alexa, the sexiness of Kate and the beauty of Rumi.
Now that would be one stylish lady.
Erin Wasson – a beautiful model from Texas, America and my celebrity crush (i really don’t like using the word ‘celebrity’ but as a lady who has modelled for the likes of Balenciaga, Gucci and Karl Lagerfeld, Erin qualifies as quite a famous lady). She’s my style icon, and opitimises everything I love about laid back American fashion.
She can be usually spotted wearing ripped jeans, denim cut-offs, oversized tanks and floppy hats. With her ‘bed-head’ bedraggled bleached locks, and her ‘oh-so-cool’ easy going style, this girl has attitude and edge without even trying. Obviously having model looks certainly helps.
The model – now turned stylist and designer has launched her own clothing line in collaboration with cult surf/skate/lifestyle brand – RVCA. She has also launched her own jewellery line, Low Luv, which is sold exclusively in the UK on www.my-wardrobe.com AND is all currently in the sale, which is even better! Here are some pieces I am currently coveting. And at just £15 for the feather ring, it’s a small price to pay if you want to adorn your body in rock-chick jewellery and carry off Erin’s signature style…
