“I love the well dressed, grown up mood of the season that is still easy to wear and that can be styled in so many different ways. New fabrics play an important part this season and add something new to existing shapes,” says H&M’s head of design, Ann-Sofie Johansson
These pieces will be hitting the H&M shop floor in February.
Here’s what you should be taking into consideration this spring according to H&M….
SILHOUETTE: Tailored and fluid
COLOURS: White and neutrals worn with fruit coloured accents like yellow, orange or apple green, alongside soft shades such as apricot and blue.
FABRICS: Cotton and jersey, silks, leather, organza, linen
DETAILS: Tailoring details and sartorial touches that emphasise the tomboy-ish look, contrasted with soft drapes, wraps and pleats which maximise the volume while keeping the shape.
KEY GARMENTS: White suit, a jersey vest, leather sleeveless jacket, shirtdress, draped kimono jacket, short quilted jacket, drape vests, wrap dress, wide trousers.
KEY ACCESSORIES: 50’s style brogues or wooden-sole platforms, multiple bangles, leather necklaces, clutch bags, white sunglasses
And don’t forget, the apple green colour pictured (also known as seafoam green) is going to be a hit for SS12. Although, this is quite difficult to wear. It would look fabulous on those who are blessed with olive skin, or those with a beautiful pale complexion and blonde hair. I’d leave this colour well alone if you’re on the pasty side with mousy brown hair. Like myself, I am unable to wear nudes and pale peachy tones. My complexion just won’t have it.
I’d introduce the pieces above to compliment my existing chunky shoe boots, denim cut offs and a tropical print head scarf. Tropical prints are also big for SS12.
Embrace the colour and bold prints, and paint that smile back on your face.
One word, WOW.
I’ve taken a look at the press images for the new Versace/H&M collaboration and they haven’t failed to impress me. The hotly anticipated collaborations that H&M mastermind sell out in hours and this one, I’m sure, will do the same. With talk amongst bloggers, industry press and H&M fans hotting up, the excitement for this collection is becoming more apparent.
I haven’t yet stood in line to queue for my own Stella McCartney/H&M piece or even a Viktor &Rolf/H&M piece, but I fear for my bank balance because I have already lined up several items, which I hope to have hanging in my wardrobe by 12pm on 17th November.
The high street store has mastered the art of collaborating with amazing fashion houses and making collections accessible to those without the money to spare on these labels usually. Here, they have produced a cleverly designed, colourfully printed range of both men’s and womenswear, and here below are my favourite pieces you can expect to go on sale on 17th November.
Buy into Donnatella’s ‘more is more’ approach to fashion and enjoy adding a splash of colour to your winter wardrobe. Clash away.
Jot the date down in your diary – and expect rather a large queue!
