Opening Ceremony: To Open in London

There’s no getting away from the Olympics. This summer London will be awash with tourists and sporting enthusiasts.

People from around the globe will be landing in the UK to see some of the Games that make up the biggest sporting event in the world.

And fashion fans won’t be missing out. It seemed only right that a store with such a name were to open in celebration of the games.  Opening Ceremony – ‘a multi-faceted retail environment’ will be opening a pop up shop in Covent Garden whilst the event takes place.  Fear not, they won’t be packing up and leaving the UK afterwards, they will be opening in a permanent spot come the autumn.

The brand’s own ranges will be sold alongside those of Band of Outsiders, Proenza Schouler, Norma Kamali, Pamela Love, Patrick Ervell, and many more.

Spring Outfit Inspiration

I’m loving all the seventies inspired clothing around at the moment.  Great for casual wear and so easy for spring days in the sun.  I’m also loving the sun – puts you in such a smiley mood!

Here are a few pieces I’ve pulled together for a Charlie’s Angel-esq look (complete with BIG wavy hair) but with a modern edge…

Taken from both High Street and designer brands, I couldn’t resist starting off with a pair of J Brand jeans, expensive at $179 a pop, yes I think the price is an investment, but to start off with a good pair of jeans is a must for any casual outfit .  J Brand Love Story jeans are definitely at the top of my spring wish list.

The flare balances out the shape of the body and the platforms – AMAZING (Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony) – add length to the leg.

The cute, very ‘fashion’ sunglasses from Reiss (in the sale by the way!) are toned down by this gorgeous Topshop textured grey jumper, whilst piling on the silver jewellery toughen it all up a little.

The navy canvas River island duffle bag is perfect to sling over you’re shoulder and add a little colour to the ensemble.

Jeans: J Brand (Love Story) – $179
Jumper : Topshop £45
Shoes: Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony $395
Bag: River Island £39.99
Sunglasses: Reiss £46 (sale)
Rings and Bracelet: various Topshop

I heart Rodarte (for Opening Ceremony)

So the collaboration between Rodarte and Opening Ceremony is now available here. Not only do I love the motion graphic above, which especially makes me want to pop a pair of the beautiful sunnies in my online basket straight away, but also cheers up on this somewhat dull Wednesday evening (which got rather more so when I discovered it was actually Wednesday and not in fact Thursday, which I had convincingly led myself to believe all day).

To be honest I’m not particularly feeling the clothes (they’re just not me), and may get my wrists air slapped by fashionistas everywhere for saying that but it is definitely the accessories that have won me over.

The beautiful tapestry handbags, the image emblazoned ‘tattoo’ tights and the fab sunglasses will all add a little punchy pazazz to any mundane outfit.

Here are my choice pieces:

In love with – Opening Ceremony

Here are my choice pieces from Opening Ceremony, both a label in its own right and a website which sells designer pieces from established well-known labels, as well as those a little more niche and up and coming.  A creative and unique shopping experience, and one which gets the styling juices flowing.  Below are my fave pieces on the site (although I could quite easily list all of the footwear from the Chloe Sevigny collaboration – right up my street)…

Opening Ceremony currently ship to the UK.

Polyvore – endless hours of fun

I created this look on Polyvore, which is a website that provides hours of fun styling and creating dream outfits, which sadly I don’t have the dollar to pay for… However, one can dream and this is one of the looks I have created with the hope that I can afford to buy every single item (especially the sunnies and the boots) very, very soon.

I don’t know why but to me this outfit has almost a French feel to it, this wasn’t my intention but if someone could whisk me off to Paris (after having bought me this outfit!) that would be just dandy…
