My week in photos…

.

The past week or weeks rather, have been somewhat rather hectic. I’ve made changes to joneslovesstyling.com, so that you’re able to see an example style guide and see exactly how it can help you select your perfect outfits…

Not only have I been working on this but I also did a little work with Style Birmingham LIVE.  With retailer liaison, outfit selections, working with models and dressers, as well as assisting PR and Styling in the run up to the show date, my life has been a bit of a whirlwind.

So here’s the update for blog in pictures… Keep an eye out for the 10 Best Winter Coats post- coming soon.

My Reiss AW12 Favourites

.

Here are some looks from the current Reiss lookbook…

As you can see, Reiss have delivered yet again. They never fail to impress me, and it’s my go-to place when I need something high in quality, edgy in design and grown up in aesthetic.

The look this season, I feel is slightly different to past seasons in terms of it’s direction. Some pieces are more ‘mature’ in style but the cut and texture has been played with, and when certain items are combined, it results in looks like these.  Elegant and fashion-forward.  They seem to have reinvented the classics here, keeping their offering fresh.

Below you can see what I have my eye on this season – especially the first two dresses. Just beautifully structured and textured.

My love affair with Reiss continues…

Those boots are made for…

.

I love when the season changes to autumn winter in the fashion world, for one main reason. Black boots – flat boots, heeled boots, shoe boots, knee-high boots…

To some people they all look the same, to me, they are all works of art, architectural beauties which elevate you and are the perfect finish to an otherwise casual look.

Here are my top choices for the season ahead…

Topshop £120

Chloe at Farfetch £395

Stella McCartney at Farfetch £590

Zara £59.99

Reiss £195

Madonna at Selfridges £130

I really can’t decide which ones I like best – maybe I could get them all at a reasonable grand total of £1,489.99…?  Think I’ll be purchasing a few scratch cards tomorrow…

Must-Haves…

.

If you’re going to invest in any clutch bag this season, make sure it’s this little beauty from Reiss.

One of my favourite brands, Reiss, always deliver when it comes to staying on trend with a clean, edgier direction.

Moving into AW12, this bag (£120) works well into next season’s colour palette, as well as the bold print trend.

This dress (£60) is perfect under a blazer of an evening, or in the daytime with studded flat sandals…

Topshop Boutique is my go-to for simple wardrobe basics, which flatter your body shape and look beautiful with denim.

.

I just love this necklace (£85) from Gemma Lister at Farfetch. It’s delicate, feminine, yet adds a sense of masculinity with it’s strong cubic lines.  Again, perfect for the upcoming geometric digital print trend.

The French Vogue Shirt

My favourite fashion magazine is actually a supplement – a freebie with The Sunday Times… in fact I’m always tempted to buy the newspaper just so I can get my hands on a  copy, but fortunately my pop decided to give me his copy (I guess he has little need for The Sunday Times Style magazine).

I was having a flick through and noticed that they too believe that in terms of popularity and as a micro trend, the ‘French Vogue Shirt’ is on the rise.  Now I own two of these, and love them for their ease and ability to be dressed up or down.

Emmanuelle Alt is an inspiration and a personal style icon, and I believe in her uniform of power dressing (super skinny jeans cropped at the ankle, sky-high heels and a boxy angular jackets), it suits my body shape and I instantly feel confident when I adopt this look.

Here is the super stylish woman herself, showing how the shirt should be worn – tucked in, open at the neck and boy cut.

And here’s how you can get the look on the high street…

L-R: Topshop £36, Ted Baker at ASOS £110 and Reiss £33 (Reduced from £110)

.

I would definitely recommend checking out the options at Reiss. They have a fabulous selection of these shirts and many of them are currently marked down in price due to their current sale.  The sheer shirt is light-weight and a perfect wardrobe staple to take you through to the summer season.

Also, I’d recommend selecting a silk option – you’re then half way there to working the silk pyjama trend too… (as seen in Vogue).

Spring Outfit Inspiration

23.03.11

I’m loving all the seventies inspired clothing around at the moment.  Great for casual wear and so easy for spring days in the sun.  I’m also loving the sun – puts you in such a smiley mood!

Here are a few pieces I’ve pulled together for a Charlie’s Angel-esq look (complete with BIG wavy hair) but with a modern edge…

Taken from both High Street and designer brands, I couldn’t resist starting off with a pair of J Brand jeans, expensive at $179 a pop, yes I think the price is an investment, but to start off with a good pair of jeans is a must for any casual outfit .  J Brand Love Story jeans are definitely at the top of my spring wish list.

The flare balances out the shape of the body and the platforms – AMAZING (Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony) – add length to the leg.

The cute, very ‘fashion’ sunglasses from Reiss (in the sale by the way!) are toned down by this gorgeous Topshop textured grey jumper, whilst piling on the silver jewellery toughen it all up a little.

The navy canvas River island duffle bag is perfect to sling over you’re shoulder and add a little colour to the ensemble.
