The Perfect White Shirt

A white shirt should be a staple item in any woman’s wardrobe – working or not.  This piece is no longer constrained to the office.

I’m on the hunt for the perfect white shirt…A white shirt is incredibly versatile, and looks great (providing it’s spotless and ironed well) whether dressed in a formal situation or casual.

A few years back I wouldn’t have been on the lookout for such an item. Memories of school would be ignited on the mention of a crisp white shirt, but now I can see the stylish benefits in owning such a piece.

A well made white shirt can add instant sophistication to a look… and it’s the blank canvas to decorate how you wish. Go minimal, or accessorize.

Team with a tailored cigarette pant, boyfriend jeans and pointed court shoes, or an off-duty look of converse… button up to the neck and add a sweater (although not advisable for ladies with a larger bust), or wear unbuttoned sightly (better for ladies with a larger bust), team with a pencil and heels, or a midi skirt and loafers.

Add some quirky cuff links or beautiful collar tips…button up and add a statement necklace…roll the sleeves and leave unbuttoned over a vest for a casual look.  The possibilities really can go on.  It’s a hugely versatile piece, and a great addition to a capsule wardrobe all year round. There are many different styles and variations but personally I’d like to find a plain white, long-sleeved, cotton, semi-fitted shirt.

A Whistles treat…

I decided to practise what I preach last week, and edit my wardrobe. Two big bin bags of clothing later, I knew the gaps in my wardrobe and what needed to fill them…

Whilst browsing in Selfridges I came across these Whistles capri pants in the sale. Reduced from £125 to £45, they needed to be mine. It was a sign, they needed to fill a trouser shaped gap in my clothing collection!

They’re high-waisted and luxuriously soft, I just love them.

Pictured below, I am wearing these with a white cami, silver jewellery and brown 70’s style Mary-Janes. I shall also be wearing these dressed down with white pumps or ballet flats for an Audrey Hepburn type look.  She was a stylish lady.

My new website is now live!

I’ve launched a venture, that offers an alternative to traditional forms of Personal Shopping. JonesLoves Styling is an online concept, and also means clients will receive a beautiful ribbon-tied box direct to their door with a Diptyque candle, their own personal styling guide, the latest copy of Vogue/ELLE, a cute notepad and the USB of all the item links.

It basically cuts out the hassle of scouring the internet for the perfect items.  I simply put together your ideal outfit/wardrobe based on your preferences and get the links and style guide package out to you within one week.

Please do take a look… I appreciate the feedback!

Keep a look out for the AW12 Trend Section which will launch next week…

Dream Holiday Wardrobe

This is possible the worst summer I have ever experienced. Rain, rain and more rain. I long to put to good use my summer purchases. Back when we had that glorious week of sunshine, where evenings were topped off with a glass of Pinot in the local beer garden, I decided to make a few key purchases. But alas, they have not seen the light of day.

However, on the 12th I jet off to Lisbon for a summer festival, followed by 5 beautiful sunny days lounging in a private villa with friends, and I simply can’t wait. My summer clothes will get worn!

Below is what I’d choose, if my budget was somewhat bigger.  I also show below how you can team the items together styling them into looks perfect for a glorious getaway…

And some styling…

Everyone do a little sundance! Hopefully I’ll bring a little sunshine back with me…
