Chloe has designed an extremely flattering pair of trousers…
Seen below, the front split at the hem of the ankle works to draw the eye upwards, lengthening the leg but exposing more of the ankle at a point.
The trick is to add a pair of super high (pointed) court shoes to mirror the triangular indent and create a leg lengthening illusion.
However, there’s good news for those who prefer to shop on the high street – Topshop have designed their own version at £40. Personally I’m hankering after the pair by Chloe at Browns. Beautiful quality in a wool finish.
I’m quite sure H&M now do a version of these, which will be even cheaper than the Topshop ones. These aren’t yet on their website, but I’m sure they are available in the ‘Trend’ section of their stores.
And the shoes…. I know I’ve posted about these before but I just LOVE them! Whistles £125
Here are a few outfits I’ve worn over the past few days – with winter looming, I expect the new ‘WIWT’ blog post may include faux fur and winter coats. In fact I’m in need of a new warm coat – and I’ve got a few I’ve got my eye on, keep your eyes peeled for the next post in which I’ll be selecting my top choices of winter coats.
I post my outfit looks on Instagram, so if you fancy following my name on there is also ‘@jonesloves.’
I decided to practise what I preach last week, and edit my wardrobe. Two big bin bags of clothing later, I knew the gaps in my wardrobe and what needed to fill them…
Whilst browsing in Selfridges I came across these Whistles capri pants in the sale. Reduced from £125 to £45, they needed to be mine. It was a sign, they needed to fill a trouser shaped gap in my clothing collection!
They’re high-waisted and luxuriously soft, I just love them.
Pictured below, I am wearing these with a white cami, silver jewellery and brown 70’s style Mary-Janes. I shall also be wearing these dressed down with white pumps or ballet flats for an Audrey Hepburn type look. She was a stylish lady.
So having spent the last 3 months in India, some of which was spent on the back of various motorbikes, riding through the Himalayan hills and Goan lanes with the wind in my hair (and holding on to my boyfriend for dear life), I have now decided that I would very much like a (smaller, more ladylike) bike of my own.
The motorbikes we hired whilst away were far too big for me to operate, so I’d quite happily settle for a very stylish compromise, and I’ve decided I’d like this to be a Vespa – either in a baby green or cream. Oozing character and vintage style, these little beauties would make a little roam about town so much fun!
Now I keep forgetting that here in Britain, the weather isn’t the best, what with sub-zero temperatures in winter, as well as snow and ice, along with miserable grey rainy days in ‘summer.’ So I think the best place to own one of these would be Milan or Paris…
Ahhh, I can just imagine it now – wind in my hair, scooting in and out of traffic jams, whilst stopping off on the way to the Chanel store for a macchiato coffee…
And what better to compliment my new Vespa, than a Louis Vuitton helmet?
So moving forward a year, to summer 2012, and we can see by Louis Vuitton’s Resort collection that the Mod trend (tipped to be big for late SS11 and AW11) will also continue through to SS12. Shift mini dresses, box jackets, coloured capri pants and loafers are in as fashion jumps back a decade from the 70’s to the 60’s.
These helmets are amazing!
Louis Vuitton Resort SS12 Collection
If you fancy speeding ahead of everyone in the style game, then I would personally invest in a few mod pieces now. Make your wardrobe go that extra mile. *Sorry, I couldn’t resist!* As we know, colour-blocking will play a major part in our wardrobes for SS11 and AW11, so coloured Mod-inspired garms are a great way to pave the way for this bold fashion trend, and bikinis like these below, may look good but let’s face it – it would be slightly nippy in places.
Here I’ve pulled a selection of pieces from leading stores, ASOS and Topshop, to show you how you can work this into your wardrobe right away. Get the mod look, then start saving your pennies (approximately 150,000 of them) as well as just a few extra for the hottest accessories of next year – the Vespa and a Louis Vuitton helmet.
And lastly i’ll leave you with a photo of the late great 60’s style icon, Edie Sedgwick… beautiful.
